From Mexico City to Bangkok: Handshake Speakeasy brings the world’s best bar to Bar Us

On May 1st, Bangkok hosted an unforgettable evening that brought together two powerhouses in the global cocktail scene.

Handshake Speakeasy, currently ranked as the best bar in the world by The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024, landed at Bar Us Bangkok for a one-night guest shift that shook the foundations of the nightlife in Bangkok.

The atmosphere was electric as Bartenders Brad Elizalde and Gustavo Almataz of Handshake took over the bar, blending the creative energy of Mexico City with the precision and flair that define Bar Us.

Guests experienced a limited menu of four stunning cocktails, all highlighting world-class spirits featured in the cocktail recipe list of the world’s top bars, many of which are available right now at Speak Easy BKK.

EARL GREY
Featuring: Farmer’s Gin (coming soon)

• A fragrant, delicate mix of Earl Grey tea, bergamot, lemongrass, and Nami sake. The cocktail showcased Farmer’s Gin’s crisp botanicals, accented by the tea's citrusy warmth and floral finish.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN OAXACA
Featuring: Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal

• Smoky, minty, and herbaceous, this cocktail blended mezcal with lemon, absinth, and whey for a refreshing yet complex sip.

BUTTER MUSHROOM OLD FASHIONED
Featuring: Michter’s US1 Bourbon*

• Brown butter mushroom, walnut, and maple turned the classic Old Fashioned into a rich, earthy masterpiece. It was a standout—bold and smooth with exceptional depth.

COFFEE FIZZ
Featuring: Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal

• This carbonated creation layered smoky mezcal with bright lemon and cold brew coffee, offering guests a bracing, bittersweet twist on café culture.

Global collaboration, local stage

This event was a meeting of minds between two bars ranked among the best bars on Earth! Handshake Speakeasy (No.1) and Bar Us (No.41) brought the full spectrum of high-concept mixology to Bangkok for one spectacular night.
